In my 2nd paper I would like to choose ways of hearing episode 1 “ Time” representing analog to Digital sound and technology. Analog mostly used in earlier generation people still use but as per today generation coz of advanced technology digital has been rapidly expanding . Analog signal is stable signal which shows physical measurement where as in Digital is discrete time.

Having smartphone destroyed generation.
In 21st century if we ask anyone to name one thing can’t live without , their cellphone would probably top at list. Because of advanced technologies we are able to connect our near and dear even they live in different countries. Through smartphones there are many advantages like setting alarm, setting our weekly schedule , checking forecast and many more. These days we may forget to eat or do ur assignments but no one forget to take cellphone before leaving home. people gives more preference to digital world compare to human beings. But smartphones has a lot of disadvantages. Through my experience I loss my sleep hours , without enough sleep it ruins our daily life . Mostly I waste my time in social media or entertainment every hour I check my cellphones which leaves many important work behind. There is always distraction from technology every app notification pops up also daily news which drags us to use phone anyhow. People spend more then 5-6 hours in cellphone each day . Due to spending extensive time in technology many young people loss their vision and communication to world.
Image and brief description of first paper.
For the first paper, i’ll be choosing the painting by the artist Kehinde Wiley because I found this particular image so similar to ancient paintings where the artists show the power and victorious movement of emperors, to be exact here is Jacques-Louis David’s Napoleon Crossing the Alps. Kehinde painted a person of color instead of an Napoleon but the image still sends the same strong message that a powerful person is ready to lead a community or nation, be it Napoleon or people of color. It also uses some European traditions to recreate something new just like how John Berger describes in episode 1 of Ways of seeing.
Art is freedom
Berger discusses oil painting in episode 3 ways of seeing , in which he says buying painting also buys the looks of painting. From ancient time value of painting are mysterious ,they placed at different places which becomes popular and unique . Because of popularity of paintings art gallery looks like palace and needs to be cautions. This particular image was painted in 1533 by Holbein Shows two french diplomat in London .This picture illustrate wealth of these two men in which one man dressed up well in huge fur coat ,his jewelers , where as other man he has different look but they both appeared wealthy in this painting , but every culture is uniquely complex and it shows to make a statement on other cultures in opposition . However Berger demonstrate in episode 2 is same as this painting , in which how wealthy it shows through embroiderers , furies , jewelers , carpet work and leathers . if we viewed in different it has another way of meaning . where i can say they are preparing for a war in which they appears in unique look . There culture are advancement to the rest of the world.
The invention of camera dates back to 1816, popularity of instant camera took off in 1965 and till date it is taking the world by storm. Today, almost everyone has camera on theirs phone all the time and is using its features to the max. Millennials are expected to take 25,000 selfies in their lifetime. With new invention comes new changes, new manipulation which tends misuses the invention for their own benefit. These days people are using images for everything, for example, political campaigns, clothing lines, Ads, protest etc because images has the capacity and the platform to reach millions of people around the world with the help of the internet. So images can manipulate a lot of things in anyone’s life and it’s free. Recently, I was on “TikTok” which is like “ Vines”, where they act with some music in background and sometimes notes on the pictures. So there was a trend recently on the app “ Tik Tok” where people put black paint on their face with sad music in the background. The next second, it changes to fun music , the same person is shown with full makeup and of course without the black paint. This context with few images switching from black paint fact to full glowing makeup shows how the world sees fair skin as more attractive and how melanin is not considered beautiful. This trend showcased bad society’s mentality where if you don’t meet society’s standard of beauty then you are not attractive. This trend made me feel so bad and I have seen a lot of people from India keeping up with this trend. Coming from India, I know how melanin is not considered the most attractive skin color and pale skin can win over darker skin color. Which is sad but it’s true in most rural India. It is so sad that the trend is spreading all the wrong message through the use of images and it is even more sad that this has became a trend on that app.
AN EYE OPENER MESSAGE
In episode #2 John Berger emphasized on how women are seen in the eyes of the spectators, how they are being judged as a women and how it still relates today.
The term “naked” here means to be oneself where as “nude” means to expose oneself in an object and not realizing the fact that you are actually being exposed.
Berger restructured the classical nude paintings and compared it with the modern images of women advertisements so as to show where really the status of women stands in the world at large. That’s when he started analyzing the relationship between men and women and their differences in depth.He directed the path on how to perceive the paintings and images. The relations between the painter and the women performing for the painting is inseparable and there is no way to miss the sight of the main women character even though there are dozens of other characters within the same image.
One contemporary example I can relate here is the famous and iconic former American world #1 tennis player (Billie Jean King- an LGBT figure herself0 who who 39 grand slam titles. she wasn’t that famous until she tackled her inner self to the world that converted how others should see and treat every individual equally after she won “The Battle of the Sexes” match against a 55 years old Bobby RIGGS.
